CAS NO.: 70753-61-6
Molecular Formula: C8H14CaO10
Product Characteristics:
Calcium L-threonate is a white powder, almost odorless and tasteless. It is soluble in water, readily soluble in hot water, but insoluble in alcohol, ether, and chloroform. Its melting point is higher than 330°C (with decomposition). It exhibits good resistance to acids and alkalis, as well as strong thermal stability: no changes occur when heated at 120°C for 20 minutes or at 200°C for 10 minutes. L-threonic acid is widely present in plant tissues, human gastric acid, and uric acid. It is a degradation product of L-ascorbic acid.

Applications:
Calcium L-threonate is a crucial substance in the metabolic process of vitamin C in the body, aiding in the absorption of vitamin C. Additionally, scientists have found that it can enhance bone calcium content and bone mineral density, thereby strengthening bone strength. It can also reverse negative calcium balance. Absorbed via passive diffusion through intestinal mucosa, it belongs to an unsaturated absorption process where the amount of passive calcium absorption is directly proportional to the intake—naturally, the higher the intake, the greater the absorption. Calcium entering the plasma through molecular passive diffusion exists in the form of small molecules, which increases blood calcium concentration. This significantly increases the proportion of calcium in small molecular form, prolonging the metabolic time of calcium in the plasma. This helps ensure sufficient time for blood calcium absorption and skeletal calcium metabolism, resulting in very high bioavailability and particularly remarkable calcium supplementation effects. Furthermore, after oral administration, Calcium L-threonate is absorbed in molecular form with an absorption rate of 95%. It slowly releases calcium ions in the body, making it effective for treating osteoporosis, vitamin D deficiency, rickets, and various calcium-deficient diseases. It should be noted that while taking this medication orally, one should also expose themselves to more sunlight, as sunlight helps achieve more complete absorption and enhances the calcium supplementation effect.
